Christelle Gorman recently joined the Vista Hermosa Foundation as a Program Officer and manages the International Grants portfolio. Originally from Côte d’Ivoire “Ivory Coast” (West Africa), she is a graduate of Gonzaga University and has spent the last 10 years working on HIV/AIDS global policy in Washington DC. As part of her duties, she has helped to develop the capacity of international partners through technical and adaptive assistance for programs in Botswana, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Bahamas, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Thailand.
Christelle has an extensive history of cross-cultural work supporting diverse stakeholders including Executives, Ministry of Health Officials, Community Health Workers, Diplomats, and other staff to build positive collaborative relationships that improve the health and wellness of marginalized communities.
With family and colleagues from around the world, Christelle speaks 6 languages (3 Ivorian Languages, English, French, and Spanish). Her other passion is fashion. In 2011, she founded bijoot.com, a global fashion line designed to empower African women and girls through technical skills, mentorship, and coaching. As the designer, she draws inspiration from their stories and seeks to instill in each garment, a reservoir of resiliency sown into the fabric by the women and girls who partner with Bijoot.
Christelle, her husband, and puppy “Habebe” recently relocated to Central Washington to be closer to family. Her life motto is to bring “La joie de Vivre” into everything she does. She approaches her work as a program officer with humility and is excited to contribute to a team with a focus on being of service to others.
